So, the conversation turns again to the demise of the message. And this is where I am confused. I've trawled the interviews ( thank you T.I.P ) and at no point do MCR state that they have a definitive message ( with regards to women ) until late 2004/2005 when they became more in the public eye and the fan base begin to idolise them. Previous to this they were very much a band about following your dream, being who you are and making a difference. I mean, for goodness sake, there is even an interview where GW says he watched a porn film in the recording booth to help with the intensity of the vocals ( working on the assumption that it was a heterosexual porn film ). I never saw a campaigner until well into their career.
I see a man who fits his actions and statements into whatever the public/friends/lovers want him to be.
So why is everyone so disappointed by the current state of affairs? He is behaving true to form.

Unfortunately, you may be right.
For my part, I'm disappointed because I thought he wanted & was capable of more than this.
Hello GS,
Thought I'd drop in to say Hi.
I think a large part of "the message" was built by perception and projection. As a band, when you see that people are looking for something in particular from you, at first you try to provide it. But when it morphs into something beyond your control and becomes a barrier to growth, you try to turn it on its head. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with this. It's part of the natural life cycle of a band. I think the challenge is finding the balance between giving people what they want while remaining true to yourself as a person and an artist.
That's my 2 cents. :)
Andrea
My only point was that if he can turn one way to provide the thing you're looking for, don't be disappointed if he turns back around again. So many people are disillusioned and they really shouldn't be.
Agreed!
Thanks for your comment, it's always nice to hear from you. :)
